THE CREATION PROCESS IN DETAIL

1. RESEARCH

Firstly product research must be carried out, to get an overview of the competitors’ products on the market and the trends, and to identify the nature of the application environment of the product.

2. IDEAS PHASE

In the ideas phase, initial designs are developed. Here the designers need to use imagination and creativity. In the first stage the ideas are presented using sketches and/or preliminary models. Initial concepts develop from these. Right from the start the focus is on looks and design vocabulary, but also function, production viability and usability.

3. DESIGN PHASE

In the design phase the concepts are developed, refined and examined with regard to design and feasibility. This creative process sets the course for the optimum quality of the design performance. The drafts are visualized using photo-realistic renderings, in order to enable an objective assessment of the design. Physical models are another means of enabling the design to be understood and assessed.

4. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

This process constitutes the further development of the product design until it is finally ready for market. The product is optimized in terms of its design until it is suitable for mass production and the product can be successfully introduced to the market.
